Dropshipping is similar to every other business. It depends on the person and his mindset. It takes a lot of trial and error to find out what works, which can be frustrating and time-consuming.
Many people who make money from drop shipping either find it out quickly or make it too rich. But keep in mind that just because you’ve been fortunate in the past doesn’t mean you’ll continue to be fortunate in the future.
Over the course of 35–40 days, I made around $15k with one lucky product. I gave up trying because I couldn’t replicate the performance.
As Mike Sossamon says “My ex-girlfriend earns about $40,000 a year by drop shipping odd products. Every week, she works the same number of hours as I do. She can work from anywhere in the world, which is the only difference. She no longer spends more than two months in the same city. She’s still on the lookout for the next hot commodity and running ad tests.”
Her cousin, who introduced her to online marketing, earns a six-figure annual salary and hardly works. She is highly knowledgeable about what sells and how to market it. She admitted that her first few months weren’t particularly fruitful, but she eventually figured out what worked for her.
I tried to absorb everything I could from her, but I never found the process as enjoyable as she did. Making money online while travelling the world appealed to me, but the process didn’t seem normal to me. I didn’t like the idea of anything being up to chance until you had a structure in place that worked. That was a major reason why I never had any luck with drop delivery.
When I was “learning drop shipping,” I discovered that there are a lot of people who make money by teaching dropshipping courses. They probably wouldn’t make much money if they had to sell a real product. Having said that, there are some incredibly talented people out there who are willing to share their experience.
I’m no longer interested in drop delivery, but I’ll always be grateful that I heard a little about online marketing. My new skills will help me market my company, which I’ve had since the late 1990s.
There is certainly money to be made drop shipping if anyone can remain optimistic and laser-focused. However, as with any other low-entry company, most people will try it out and say it doesn’t work. The issue isn’t whether it’ll work; it’s whether they’ll be able to understand what’s needed to make it work and then scale what does.
