An order status workflow is shown below to demonstrate how statuses can be used in the order management process.
Every business is different, and what works for one may not work for another.
Experiment with different workflows to determine what works best for you.
1. You receive an email notification that a new order has been placed. To access the order details, you open the email, click the order link, and log into your store.

2. When you look at the order’s information, you’ll notice that it has an Awaiting Fulfillment status, which means it’s paid for and available for you to choose and pack.

3. You package the order and obtain the necessary shipping label. You then deliver the package to a shipping company or arrange for a pickup. You manually change the status to Awaiting Shipment in either situation, indicating that the order is ready to leave your point of origin.

4. Return to the View Orders screen and use the Ship Items order action to update the order status to Shipped, indicating that it has departed its point of origin.

5. You could manually update the order status to Complete after confirming receipt by the customer (through the tracking number or other methods).
