Is GST registration compulsory for ecommerce sellers?

As mentioned above, GST is compulsory for anybody or a business that is involved in interstate supplies of goods or services. So in the case of eCommerce, sellers basically sell their products all over India.

So there is the involvement of Interstate supplies of goods which is why every seller needs to apply and register for GST as soon as they start running their business.

The second most important factor for eCommerce sellers is that GST will be required if they want to sell on any marketplace like Amazon, Flipkart, Misho, Paytm, etc.

Even if you decide to sell through your own website then also you will be requiring GST because for integrating with multiple logistic companies and payment gateways, you have to submit your GST.

So in the case of online selling, the annual turnover criteria is not applicable.
